Golfing

So we just finished all of the golf lessons in Lifetime/Leisure Activities and next week we will be going to the driving range and the par 3 course.  I have never been a golfer, so this unit I learned so much information and am becoming slightly better.  I've never been to a driving range before, so that will be a new experience for me.  I'm excited to go and see how far I can hit.  I have done par 3 before, but never knew what I was doing, so hopefully this will be my best round.  For those of you who are avid golfers, any tips before I hit the course next week?

E-Folio

So after this weekend I believe I am finally done with my E-Folio!  :-)  I have had to do e-folios before for athletic training, so I already had a lot of my stuff scanned and on my computer so that saved me a lot of time.  For athletic training, after every item we put on we had to write caption statements which explained what SRU and NATA domain it fell under and what we learned, so right before I graduated I had over 60 items and caption statements that all had to be hyperlinked.  Luckily, we didn't have to write caption statements for this E-Folio, just 4 reflection papers, which weren't too bad at all.  I think in the future, I may change it all over to PowerPoint because the linking is so much easier.  I did mine in Word because that's what we had to use for athletic training, but after our interactive PowerPoint I saw how easy it can be done in there.  Good luck to the rest of you finalizing your E-Folios!

Polka!

Today in Dance Fundamentals we worked on the Polka.  It's a lot of fun and not that difficult to learn.  It's a little bit harder when your partner is a lot taller than you, but you learn to adapt.  TC is a great teacher and he teaches us the history of the dance and how dance has evolved over time.  I think we are going to learn some swing dancing next week.  For those of you who have already had TC, what was your favorite dance to do?

Fit Club Seminars

This morning I was spinning with a few of my fellow FIT Club members at 6am.  I never experienced spinning until this past semester, but I am falling in love with it.  It is such a great workout and the small group of us that attend every week have a blast.  Dr. McKinley usually comes in to go to her office around 6:30 and cheers us on.  If you want to experience a FIT Club seminar, and are not a FIT Club member, no need to feel left out!  We are having open seminars, free of charge, for the remainder of the semester so you can get a feel for who we are and what we do.  If you want to come work out, there are seminars every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 6am in the wrestling room in the field house.  Tuesday, April 19 will be circuit training.  Thursday, April 21 will be spinning.  (Every Thursday is a spinning day).  If you are not an early bird and the thought of waking up to go work out at 6am scares you, no worries, there will be a bosu ball seminar during common hour on Thursday, April 21 in East Gym.  Also, on Wednesdays from 5-6 there are ski hill workouts out by the ski lodge (weather permitting).  If you are interested in attending any of these, email Jen Lanke (jal1717@sru.edu) and let her know.  Especially email her on a spinning day because there are only so many bikes.  I hope to see you there! :)
